How should you use Amplify ELA Novel Guides?
All Novel Guides are housed in the Amplify Library as downloadable and printable PDFs. They include student worksheets and instructions for you to guide students through a close read of a passage, and all the way to the end of a book.
The Novel Guides can be used at any point in the year or paired with thematically related core units, before or after teaching the units. Or, if you would like to build out lessons, the guides can be used as the foundation for a more fully developed curriculum.

Don’t forget to use Digital Novel Guides this year!
Digital Novel Guide units are adapted from the Novel Guide PDFs in the Amplify Library. You can find them in the Flexible Units section of the Year Overview. Each guide organizes activities into five lessons covering a different set of reading, writing, and speaking skills. Lessons feature submittable student work, including auto-scored Solos, and work alongside print texts (as well as the novels currently in the Amplify Library).
These guides can be used at any time throughout the year and provide recommendations for units from the core curriculum that share similar themes and subject matter with the novel.

“ My favorite thing about teaching is the ability to be able to shape young minds…it is my belief that teachers not only teach academic skills, but social skills, as well as life skills. The reason why I love teaching the Amplify curriculum is because the texts that were chosen for students are texts that allow every child to see themselves at some time in the curriculum. ”
