Why read-alouds?

The Amplify CKLA experience wouldn’t be complete without read-alouds. Research shows that listening comprehension outpaces reading comprehension well into middle school. By building content knowledge and vocabulary through read-alouds, students are given the building blocks they need to understand and access more complex texts later on.

Pairing read-alouds with rich imagery gives students additional context and further scaffolding for the stories they are reading in order to develop their overall comprehension.
