Making the transition to Amplify Desmos Math

Amplify Desmos Math incorporates brilliant feedback and requests from Desmos Math users over the years while maintaining the joyful and creative learning experiences that students and teachers love. This site is here to help you prepare to transition to Amplify Desmos Math for the 2025-26 school year.

What's changing?

All Desmos Math 6–A1 users will transition to using Amplify Desmos Math for the 2025–26 school year.

Amplify Desmos Math incorporates new features and revised lesson materials based on student and teacher feedback about what would make the learning experience even better.

On June 27, 2025, we're unifying the Desmos Classroom and Amplify platforms to launch Amplify Classroom, and all of your curriculum materials, free activities, and customized content will be available there at classroom.amplify.com.

What's included?

While the core content is very similar, in Amplify Desmos Math, you’ll find:

Will teachers still be able to edit and customize lesson materials?

Yes! The same customization features will continue to be available. Teachers will be able to import any custom activities that they have created in Desmos Math into Amplify Desmos Math if the same email is used.

Can a school or district maintain digital-only access?

Yes, for grades 6–A1! Print materials will continue to be accessible as both PDFs and Google Docs on the digital lesson pages.

How much will the lesson content be changing?

All Desmos Math 6–A1 lessons have been enhanced in the following ways:

  • Core instructional activities are very similar to Desmos Math 6–A1 lessons. Instructional support for teachers is more robust and follows a “Launch, Monitor, Connect” framework for each activity.
  • Each lesson includes a Summary in addition to the Synthesis.
  • Most lessons include a language goal and have extra vocabulary support.
  • All digital lessons now include a print version that aligns with each screen. These “Student Edition” resources have replaced the “Notes” resource.
  • All print lessons now include Teacher Presentation Screens to support lesson facilitation.
  • The wording, screen order, and activity breaks in most lessons have been updated to incorporate teacher feedback about improving the student learning experience.
  • Assessment questions have also been updated to incorporate teacher feedback.
  • The student materials in most print lessons, such as activity sheets and task cards, have been updated.
  • Some labels have changed. The check for understanding that was previously called the “Cool Down” is now called “Show What You Know.” The “Are You Ready for More?” activity is now called “You’re Invited to Explore More.”

How much will the scope and sequence of each course be changing?

Most of the lessons in Amplify Desmos Math are consistent with those in Desmos Math 6–A1. Click on the documents below to review any significant changes between the Desmos Math and the Amplify Desmos Math courses:

Are notes pages available with Amplify Desmos Math?

For Amplify Desmos Math 6–A1, we prioritized creating a full print student edition that mirrored each entire lesson. This served to support students without devices (due to IEPs, accessibility, or technical reasons), and to provide a print place for students to capture thinking, similar to the notes pages. The notes page content was repurposed into the Lesson Summaries for students to refer back to, as well as to provide an overview for caregivers. Our Mini-Lessons also provide worked examples and an additional place for students to reference, similar to notes. We highly encourage the use of the Student Edition pages with Amplify Desmos Math, but to aid in your transition, we have compiled Desmos notes pages to reference.

I adopted Amplify Desmos Math Beta Release, how do I migrate my Desmos Math content?

Check out this video to help you with content migration.

What happens if you have accounts for both Desmos Classroom and Amplify?

If your Amplify account email matches your Desmos Classroom email account, they will be merged into one account. Once the update is complete, all of your custom activities and collections from Desmos Classroom will still be available alongside Amplify programs your district has purchased. Users will also have access to dashboards created since December 27, 2023.

Like the middle school courses, the Amplify Desmos Math courses for grades K–5 were inspired by the learning progression of Illustrative Mathematics, and designed to cultivate a classroom of eager, collaborative learners by starting with student ideas and building to robust grade-level learning. While every lesson includes digital teacher presentation screens, more of the K–5 lessons are designed for students to engage with print materials than with digital materials. Check out any of the K–5 grade levels within these Featured Collections to explore sample lessons.

The team is hard at work creating comprehensive, engaging courses for Geometry and Algebra 2. These courses will be available for digital-only Beta implementations in the 2025–26 school year and released in full for the 2026–27 school year. Along with the Algebra 1, Geometry, and Algebra 2 sequence of courses, we will offer an Integrated Mathematics 1, Integrated Mathematics 2, and Integrated Mathematics 3 sequence as well. Stay tuned for more information! In the meantime, check out these Geometry and Algebra 2 lessons that have been released.
