With Distinguished Professor Pamela Snow
—
- Sydney: February 19
- Melbourne: February 24
- Brisbane: February 25
Be part of Amplify’s first Australian professional learning event series, designed to spark momentum, deepen expertise, and help educators translate the Science of Reading into everyday practice that makes a real difference for kids.
With Distinguished Professor Pamela Snow as the keynote, the series will explore the latest evidence on how young students learn to read, and you’ll discover instructional moves that accelerate growth from day one.
Grounded in decades of research—and tailored for Australian classrooms—this session will highlight what’s essential, what works, and why high-quality early literacy instruction is one of the strongest levers for educational accessibility.
Following the keynote, Amplify will lead a practical session examining how data-informed instruction focused on research based practices can accelerate student growth.
In addition to these sessions, you’ll have time to connect with other educators, spark new ideas, and enjoy light food and refreshments.
All attendees will receive a certificate of attendance worth two hours of professional development.
Events are free to attend, but spots are limited—early registration is recommended.

Reading Instruction in Australian Schools: Translating Evidence Into Practice
As the research on effective reading instruction continues to evolve, it’s vital that educators are supported in applying their knowledge with confidence and consistency. In this keynote, Pamela Snow, Ph.D., will cut through the noise to illuminate the cognitive, linguistic, and instructional building blocks that underpin strong early reading development.
This session will unpack the core elements, from oral language and phonological skills to explicit phonics and high-impact Tier 1 practices, that help all students build strong, confident reading foundations.
We’ll also explore why evidence-aligned instruction is not just good practice; it’s a matter of social equity. When schools ground early reading instruction in research, they can reduce preventable difficulties, close skill gaps before they widen, and give every child the opportunity to thrive.

Dr. Snow is a speech-language pathologist and registered psychologist. Her research (funded by nationally competitive schemes such as ARC Discovery and Linkage Programs, Criminology Research Council, and the Bertalli Family Foundation) concerns the role of language and literacy skills as academic and mental health protective factors in childhood and adolescence, and advancing evidence in the language-to-literacy transition in the early years of school, including a focus on initial and in-service teacher education.
