Amplify ELA Mobile Solos
Solos are reading assignments students are meant to do independently, either in class or as homework, that allow you to receive daily comprehension checks. Though not every student has a computer at home, most DO have access to a mobile device. The Mobile Solos give every student access to this part of the curriculum, protecting valuable classroom time for lessons and group activities.
The curriculum now indicates which Solos are the most important to prioritize, if you aren’t able to assign them all. Once you log in to the curriculum and arrive at the Unit Overview page, head over to the Reading and Writing Assignments chart in Planning for the Unit and locate the Solos with an asterisk to see which ones are essential for students’ participation in the next lesson.
Planning for Flex Days
Flex Days offer opportunities for you to respond to the student performance data in Classwork and Reporting. There are several resources you can use to plan for Flex Days. There is an activity guide in every Flex Day—this can be found at the bottom of the curriculum page under Materials. Flex Days provide you with opportunities to assign grammar instruction, present skill modules, which can be found on the ELA Professional Learning Site; or teach any of the flexible content in the curriculum, such as the Novel Guides.
