Spotlight

Betty Hoschouer

Julesburg Elementary School, CO

“A short writing about Betty Hoschouer will not do her justice. I am honored and privileged to have this extraordinary teacher impacting the lives of our young learners each and every day.  Our learning community has greatly benefited from the time Betty has put into creating a positive, successful learning environment for all of our students. Betty is our Title I interventionist along with serving as one of our Impact Coaches for the past three years, which has also created a high-quality collaborative environment for our staff as we are working toward becoming a Visible Learning school. When Colorado adopted the READ Act, Betty committed to making the necessary changes as an Impact Coach as well as an educator to adopt Amplify and put forth best practices to ensure high levels of growth and learning for all of our students. In her first year as our Title I interventionist, as a small, rural school, we had 45 students on READ plans, those scoring in the well-below-average ranges on Acadience®. We ended that school year with only one student on a READ plan. We see these results consistently each year. This is due to Betty's extensive background knowledge in the science of literacy as well as her ability to implement and deliver engaging instruction while establishing and maintaining positive relationships with her students and colleagues. Betty is also a high-impact mentor to many of our new teachers and provides them with the coaching and collaboration they need. I witness her impact daily not only on our students but in the growth of the teachers she inspires.”
