{{custom.firstName}}, I love this. In a sample of 1,056 students across our entire program, 92% of students got this cool-down correct.

A question asking students to describe Jasmine is Taller Than Terrance using an inequality.

First, that's a strong testament to the work of teachers like you in our program. Second, while the majority of students wrote "j>t," I was excited to see that a large percentage of correct students wrote "t<j" instead.

All of us are smarter than one of us.

In moments like this, you can help your students learn a couple of truths that are often obscured by the rituals and traditions of math class:

  • There are lots of ways to be smart in math.
  • All of us are smarter than one of us.

Consider sharing snapshots of those two correct responses. By sharing both responses, you'll help your students think flexibly about inequalities and gain a greater appreciation for all the different ways there are to be smart in mathematics, and you’ll help them recognize how many of their classmates are smart as well.
