Hi {{custom.firstName}},

In Fair Games you have the opportunity to help students start with their senses, to validate their intuition as a resource that’s just as valuable as their ability to reason with formulas.

7.8.6

Lots of students will agree with Charlie here, and think the game isn’t fair. Player 1 seems to have two ways to win next to Player 2’s one way. But because order doesn’t matter, Player 2 also wins on tails and heads, leveling their odds.

Nevertheless, when students make the case that Charlie is right, you have the opportunity to let students know that their answer makes a lot of sense. Letting students know that they can always start with their senses will often make them more likely to share that early sensory thinking with you in the future, which can only support your instruction later.
