Introducing our Desmos Classroom Activity Builder Spotlight!
Get ready to showcase your best custom activity in Desmos Classroom! Whether it’s an activity you built in the past or a fresh new creation, all users aged 18 and above are invited to submit their best creations by November 1, 2024. We're excited to highlight our talented community by featuring custom lessons across all skill levels, from beginner to pro, in categories for Grades K–5 and 6–12.
We'll narrow submissions for each category down to five finalists, and then our community will vote on their favorite submissions. The top lessons and activities will be announced on December 2, 2024. The creators of these activities will receive a swag bag, and their work will be added to a new Featured Collection in Desmos Classroom.
Categories and prizes
You can submit in one of four categories:
- Beginner for grades K–5
- Pro for grades K–5
- Beginner for grades 6–12
- Pro for grades 6–12
We've designed the beginner categories for users who are just starting off their lesson-building journeys. Pro categories are for users who have built lessons or activities before and want to leverage Computation Layer and/or advanced graphs to create rich student interactions.
Users can submit one entry per category. See here for the full contest rules.
Guidelines and advice
Your submissions can be lessons, activities, games, or anything else you can create in Activity Builder. It doesn’t need to be math, either!
We’ll be asking our reviewers and the community to rate submissions based on the following criteria:
Does your activity elicit student thinking through discourse, writing, drawing, or any other interaction?
Does your activity effectively teach a content area using pedagogical best practices? It doesn’t need to be about math!
Does your activity approach a topic or learning objective in a creative or unique way?
Is your activity accessible and approachable for all students and teachers?
Additional Guidelines
- Please don’t use music, footage, artwork, or photography that is owned by someone else, unless you have obtained their permission.
- While you're allowed to copy and edit our activities as a starting point, keep in mind that creativity is one of our criteria for this contest, and we want to see yours shine!
- Winners, our interaction developers might make tweaks to your activities before releasing them to our featured collections. We won’t change your submission, we’ll just make sure there aren’t bugs and may optimize it with interactions using Computation Layer.
