Don’t miss out on this magical moment in an upcoming lesson.

A screen from lesson titled "Parabolart" with a text prompt saying, "It's time to make some parabola art! 1. Drag the points to see what kinds of parabolas you can make. 2. Once you make a parabola you like, press 'Capture Parabola' to add it to your developing artwork." There is a graph of a parabola with a movable point on the vertex and two more moveable points are along the parabola on either side of the vertex. There are 5 color options that students can choose from.

On this screen, students explore different parabola properties by changing the shape and color of a parabola to make designs.

Since releasing the lesson, we’ve seen student work that blows us away. It’s clear that students spent a lot of time creating their artwork — and that their teachers leaned in and let them.

There never seems to be enough time to stop and smell the roses. So let's try to capitalize on all the time we do have. Consider how you might create space for your students to play on this screen. Have them share their thinking with each other and collaborate on a graph. Watch as your math class magically transforms into an art class, where students are making delightful graphs connected to symmetry, intercepts, vertex, concavity, and so much more! In doing so, you and your students can appreciate the beauty of mathematics.
