Dear {{custom.firstName}},

Tell your students this lesson will be the most fun they will have all week. We hope you are greeted (quickly) with a trait we love about students: skepticism.

In Behind the Headlines we celebrate their skepticism.

A image of a newspaper with the headline The Key to a Long Life: TV.

In this lesson, we ask students to bring a healthy dose of skepticism to headlines we wrote based on real data. But why stop there? Students are observant. Let’s lean in to that.

We encourage you to ask students, "Have you seen headlines like these before?” Share their examples with the class and have a discussion about why someone might be motivated to present correlation as causation. By making time for them to connect this lesson to what they have seen, heard, or read, we create an opportunity to honor their brilliance.
